Cross country: Alpine pair finish in top 30
Comments 0 | Recommend 0ROUND ROCK Alpine High School’s Rashae Skillern and Alyssa Fields both finished just short of their goal Saturday, but still had solid finishes in the girls division of the UIL Class 2A State Cross Country Championships.
Skillern, a freshman, finished 23rd with a time of 12 minutes, 40.56 seconds, on the two-mile course. Fields, a junior, followed in 24th with a run of 12:41.81.
Both runners were in their first season of competing in high school cross country, and Fields played Friday night for Alpine’s volleyball team during its five-set regional semifinal loss to eventual Region I-2A champ Peaster in Abilene.
