>> Permian girls roll: In Big Spring, guard Sam Baker scored 12 points and the Permian Lady Panthers received balanced production inside Tuesday in rolling past Big Spring 55-20.

Permian (2-1) got a combined 22 points from post players Emily Weatherford (nine), Ashleigh Alfaro (seven) and Shelby Chancellor (six). Guard Chelsea Palma had eight points for the Lady Panthers, who had 10 players score.

Permian put the defensive clamps on Big Spring, which scored a combined six points in the second and third quarters.

“Two things that were vastly improved for us were our press breaker and our transition game,” Permian coach Jennifer Shuttlesworth said. “Our defense was so much more aggressive. It created a lot for us.”

Permian plays this weekend at the San Antonio ISD Invitational. The Lady Panthers play San Antonio Highland at 6:30 p.m. Thursday in the first round.

>> OHS back in action: The Odessa High Lady Bronchos basketball team plays its second game of the season they meet Greenwood at 7:30 p.m. today.

Odessa High (1-0) opened its schedule a week ago with a 49-43 overtime victory at Andrews, getting 18 points from Dorrian McKnight and 13 from Alisha Willis.

Greenwood (1-1) is coming off a 50-48 loss at Colorado City on Saturday. The Rangerettes beat Bushland in their opener.
