Gymnastics: Permian boys beat Bell, Trinity
Comments 0 | Recommend 0BEDFORD Permian High School’s boys gymnastics team made its annual trip to the Metroplex a successful one Friday night, using a solid performance throughout its lineup to defeat Euless Trinity and host Hurst Bell at the Watson Center.
The Panthers scored 156.40 points to win their third straight optional meet of the season, helped by the all-around finishes of Micah Tripp (52.50, 3rd), Ryan Press (51.30, 4th), Camryn Hammit (51.05, 5th) and Matthew Martinez (50.35, 6th).
Trinity finished second at 154.75, with Bell, the defending state champion, placing third with 154.65 points.
Tripp was the Panthers’ lone individual event winner with a 9.60 mark on pommel horse.
Bell’s Nik Bosnyak won the all-around crown with 55.40 points, earning individual titles on rings, vault, parallel bars and high bar. Trinity’s Josh Dunning earned the floor exercise crown.
Heather Waner finished sixth for the Permian girls, who finished third against the same schools.
Bell won the girls meet with 106.85 points, while Trinity was second (104.85) and Permian was third (96.8).
