Basketball: District 3-5A preview briefs

The Permian Lady Panthers look to play spoiler when they host the Abilene High Lady Eagles at 6 tonight at the Permian Fieldhouse in District 3-5A girls basketball action.
The Lady Panthers (8-16 overall, 0-7 district) have lost their last 11 games and are coming off an 88-44 setback against district leader Midland High on Tuesday.
Abilene High (10-12, 5-1) comes into the game second in the 3-5A standings after having a bye on Tuesday. The Lady Eagles lost 54-45 to Midland High on Friday in their last outing, ending a seven-game winning streak that started with a 52-32 victory over Permian on Dec. 14 in Abilene.
OHS GIRLS AT ABILENE COOPER
The Odessa High Lady Bronchos look to get back into the District 3-5A girls basketball playoff picture when they visit Abilene Cooper at 6 tonight at Cougar Gymnasium.
Odessa High (10-15 overall, 2-5 district) has lost its last three district games, including Tuesday's 63-43 decision against Midland Lee. The Lady Bronchos are fifth in the 3-5A standings, two games back of San Angelo Central.
The Lady Cougars (8-17, 1-6) are coming off a 44-31 home loss to San Angelo Central on Tuesday. The Lady Bronchos beat Cooper 55-34 on Dec. 14 at the OHS Fieldhouse.
OHS BOYS AT ABILENE COOPER
The Odessa High boys basketball team hopes to maintain at least a tie for third-place in the District 3-5A race when it plays at 7:30 tonight at Abilene Cooper.
OHS (4-18 overall, 2-3 district) is in a three-way tie with Cooper (4-18, 2-3) and Permian for third place.
The Bronchos were soundly beaten 78-57 by Midland Lee on Tuesday at home. Javorian Guyton led the Bronchos with 21 points in the loss.
