Soccer: OHS boys win, Permian boys tie on the road
Comments 0 | Recommend 0>> ODESSA HIGH BOYS 4, MESQUITE 2: Edgar Lozoya scored two goals while Carlos Sifuentes and Jose Anchondo had two assists each Thursday as Odessa High School’s boys soccer team rallied for a 4-2 victory against Mesquite in the David Coleman Memorial Tournament at Rockwall.
The Bronchos (4-1-1), coming off a 0-0 tie Monday at Lubbock Monterey, also got goals from Uli Guillen and Ruben Tavarez as they twice rallied from one-goal deficits against the Skeeters.
Odessa High will play its second group game at 7 tonight against Lewisville Hebron, which reached the Region I-5A Tournament championship game last season.
>> PERMIAN BOYS 1, HOUSTON JESUIT 1: At the Governors Cup in Georgetown, the Permian Panthers traded penalty-kick goals with Houston Jesuit in the tournament opener for both teams.
Jr. Helguera, a senior who started at forward for the Panthers (1-2-1), scored from the spot to give his team the tie.
Permian returns to action at 5 p.m. today against host Georgetown and will then play Saturday against Austin Westlake, which was a Region IV-5A Tournament semifinalist last season.
