Football: Alpine 26, Ozona 13

ALPINE Dominic Scott eclipsed the 2,000-yard passing mark in just the sixth game of the season, passing for 237 yards  in the Fightin’ Bucks’ 26-13 victory over Ozona in the District 4-2A opener for both teams.

Scott now has 2,101 yards through the air this season. He went 19-of-34 with three touchdowns passes. The senior also rushed for a TD.

After giving up the lead late in the second quarter, the Bucks (6-0 overall, 1-0 district) scored with eight seconds remaining in the half to take the lead for good when Carlos Mendoza caught an 8-yard pass from Scott.

Arael Huerta and Oscar Trevino also had TD receptions.

Ozona (2-4, 0-1) scored on a Zane Hernandez run in the second and on a 29-yard pass from Hernandez to A.D. Lara in the final minute of the fourth.
