Football: Panthers remain No. 5 in 5A
Comments 0 | Recommend 0The Permian Panthers just missed moving up a spot in this week’s Associated Press Class 5A poll, coming in at No. 5 for the third week in a row.
Permian (8-0 overall, 3-0 in District 3-5A) received 134 points this week after its 28-21 victory at then-No. 6 Abilene High.
Permian finished one point behind No. 4 Galena Park North Shore. The Panthers trailed North Shore by three points in last week’s poll.
Abilene High fell to No. 9, while Arlington Bowie jumped two spots to No. 6 and Euless Trinity moved up one place to No. 8.
Two other Permian Basin teams received votes this week. McCamey (5-3) received six points in the Class 1A poll, while Crane (7-1) received one 10th-place vote in the 2A poll.
