Football: Crane 41, Roscoe 7

SWEETWATER A defense-fueled burst in the third quarter led the Golden Cranes to a dominant 41-7 victory over Roscoe in their season-opener at the Mustang Bowl.

An 8-yard touchdown run by Jordan Cavazos and a 70-yard touchdown pass from Cavazos to Teague Esparza gave Crane a 14-7 lead.

David Contreras opened the third quarter with a 60-yard interception return for a touchdown, Cody Black added a 1-yard score and Marco Vergara recovered a fumble in the end zone to break the game open 33-7 in the third quarter.

Esparza added a 5-yard touchdown run, and on the ensuing kickoff Crane tackled a Roscoe returner in the end zone for a safety.
