Football: Fort Davis 48, Water Valley 0

WATER VALLEY Marcus Hartnett threw touchdown passes to four different receivers and rushed for two himself Thursday as the Fort Davis Indians beat Water Valley 48-0 in the District 8 Division I Six-Man finale for both teams.

With the victory, Fort Davis (9-1 overall, 3-1 district) did all it could to qualify for the playoffs.

The Indians now have to wait for tonight’s game between Garden City and Rankin. If Garden City wins or if Rankin wins by three points or fewer, then Fort Davis will qualify.

If Rankin wins by four points or more, then Fort Davis will be eliminated.

In Thursday’s game, Stetson Chandler, Gerry Aufdengarten, Tyler Leary and Robert Moore all caught TD passes. Hartnett had nine tackles and three interceptions defensively in addition to his four TD passes and two rushing scores.
