Girls soccer: Lady Panthers come back after allowing early goal
Comments 0LUBBOCK Permian High School’s girls soccer team started slowly Monday afternoon before rallying for a 3-1 victory against Lubbock Coronado in District 2-5A action at Lowrey Field.
The Lady Panthers (6-1 overall, 5-1 district) fell behind in the opening stages of the game when Coronado (1-4-3, 0-4-2) converted on a corner kick.
But the tide turned in the 15th minute when Kourtnye Chandler scored off an assist from Paige Strahan to tie the game 1-1, with Strahan adding an unassisted goal about 10 minutes later for a 2-1 lead.
Then in the 55th minute, Shalee Thomas added the icing goal off an assist from Carley Fowler.
Permian continues an important week at 7 tonight when it plays host to San Angelo Central (3-3-2, 3-1-2) at Ratliff Stadium. Permian has been swept by Central in each of the past two seasons.
