Football: Panthers remain fifth in 5A poll
Comments 0 | Recommend 0The Permian Panthers remained No. 5 in the Associated Press Class 5A poll for the fourth week in a row.
Permian, which beat Odessa High 49-13 on Friday to improve to 9-0 for the first time since 1991, again received votes totaling 131 points. No. 4 Galena Park North Shore came in with 136 points, up four from last week.
The entire top 10 in 5A was unchanged this week, leaving District 3-5A member Abilene High still at No. 9.
Area teams Crane and McCamey improved their standing in their respective classifications.
Crane (8-1), which clinched the District 7-2A title by beating Alpine, received votes totaling three points in the Class 2A poll.
In Class 1A, McCamey (6-3) received votes totaling five points after routing Fort Hancock.
