Permian's Jewan McGee sets up a shot during Friday night's game versus San Angelo Central as Nate Kornegay follows.

BOYS BASKETBALL: Panthers play final home game

The Permian boys basketball team will play its final home game of the season at 7:30 tonight against Midland High.

The Panthers (20-6 overall, 7-3 District 3-5A), who suffered a 46-43 loss against the Bulldogs on Jan. 17 in Midland, can secure the district’s second playoff seed by avenging that loss. Permian clinched a postseason berth with last Friday’s 55-44 win against Abilene High, getting 18 points from Keouvion McCalop and 11 from Dominique Krumnow.

Midland High (6-23, 4-7), which is in a three-way tie for fourth place along with Abilene High and Abilene Cooper, has lost four of its last five games since beating Permian on a late 3-pointer by Nick Jimenez.
