5:51 With fourth-and-goal on Fort Stockton’s 1, with possibly the game on the line, Andrews QB Hunter Hicks finds Raul “E.T.” Valenzuela open in the end zone for a 1-yard score. Jake Higgs’ kick is good and Andrews cuts the lead to 26-21.
(Christian Lozano then returns the ensuing kick to Andrews’ 35).
8:37 Behind 19-14 with a little more than nine minutes remaining in the game, Andrews had to hold strong on Fort Stockton’s third-and-3 on the Mustangs’ 31-yard line. On the next play, Angel Martinez scored easily on a dive and after the extra-point kick, the Panthers led 26-14.
Third Quarter
:01 Fort Stockton finally capitalized on an Andrews mistake late as the third quarter neared an end. When the Panthers punted on fourth-and-9 on its 24 at the 3:34 mark, Andrews returner Ozzie Bueno jumped to catch it and it bounced off his hands into a Panthers’ hands.

5:21 Andrews punts on its first drive and on Fort Stockton’s first play from its own 27, QB D.J. Galvan scrambles and sheds tacklers for a 42-yard run. Eventually, Galvan takes it in to the end zone for a 1-yard score. The extra-point attempt is blocked and Andrews still leads 14-13.

Second Quarter
7:31 After a 30-yard pass to Andrews’ Jordan Estrada from Hunter Hicks, Fort Stockton’s Julio Martinez was called for an unsportsman-like conduct penalty after the official ruled Hicks, not Martinez, had possession as both hugged the ball. On the next play on the Panthers’ 24, Hicks throws it to Ozzie Bueno in the corner of the end zone on a fade for a touchdown. Hicks throws to Estrada for a two-point conversion and Andrews takes a 14-7 lead.
8:52 Andrews was driving and at Fort Stockton’s 8-yard line until a shotgun snap went over QB Hunter Hicks’ head and the Panthers scooped it up and ran to the Mustangs’ 41. A 37-yard run by QB D.J. Galvan helped set up Angel Martinez’s 2-yard touchdown five. Panthers lead 7-6.
Andrews begins 2Q with second-and-17 on Fort Stockton's 32.
First Quarter
6:57 Andrews ran a perfectly executed bubble screen and Jordan Estrada caught a nice ball from Hunter Hicks and simply followed the lane created by his blockers for a 28-yard gain. Bad snap on the extra-point kick attempt and the Andrews holder is tackled. Mustangs lead 6-0.
Andrews receives teh kickoff and returns it to about its 36-yard line.
Pre-game
Kind of humid here at the Mustang Bowl. It was sprinkling in town about two hours earlier and there are dark clouds around, but no rain.
Went to an ALCO for the first time in my life earlier. I was surprised by their CD selection. It was pretty unique because there were some really good artists --- Jackson Browne, Johnny Cash, Common --- but many CDs were their worst albums.
Kickoff is scheduled for 7:30 p.m.
