SAN ANGELO Odessa High School's volleyball team finished second in its qualifying bracket Friday and advanced into today's Gold Division of the Nita Vannoy Invitational.
The Lady Bronchos (8-6) routed Grape Creek 25-11, 25-10 and Fabens 25-7, 25-15 in their opening two matches of Green Division play at Lincoln Middle School.
Then in the final, the Lady Bronchos fell 25-22, 25-22 to El Paso Coronado, though the second-place finish still put them into the tournament's top final-day bracket.
OHS will play in the first round of the Gold Division at 11 a.m. today against Taylor, which won the Blue Division by beating El Paso Eastwood, Lubbock Monterey and Pecos.
A victory would advance the Lady Bronchos into the semifinals at 2 p.m., likely against host San Angelo Central. A loss would put the Lady Bronchos in a consolation match at 5 p.m.
All Gold Division matches will take place at Central High School.
