SWIMMING AND DIVING: Roman, Walling three-peat as regional diving champs
ANDREWS Pecos’ Gregory Roman and Andrews’ Tish Walling won the Region I-4A diving competition for the third year in a row Friday at the Mustang Natatorium.
Walling, a junior, won her third consecutive regional title with a meet-record score of 350.90 points. Pecos’ Harlee Lozano, the only other entrant in the girls event, placed second with a score of 252.90. Both are headed to the UIL State Swimming and Diving Championships on Feb. 24-25 in Austin.
Roman, a senior, won his third straight regional championship with a score of 406.20. Fellow Eagles diver Anthony Natividad finished second in the boys event with a score of 350.10, narrowly beating teammate Clay Teague for the final state berth.
The swimming finals are scheduled to start at 11:10 a.m. today, with the winner of each event advancing to the state meet.
