10:11 -- DENVER CITY TOUCHDOWN -- Running back Khaled Brown takes the pitch on the option to the left side, cuts up inside the containment, and races into the end zone from 13 yards out

FIRST QUARTER

3:23 -- Denver City gets the first break of the game, forcing the Eagles to fumble on their own 25 and the Mustangs take over.

----------------

4:44 -- Both teams have made it to the field and the game is just moments from starting after a 45-minute delay.

4:38 -- Pecos is back on the field for another short warmup period, but Denver City has yet to make a reappearance on the field ...

3:58 -- The game is under a weather delay.

3:55 -- First fumble of the day for Pecos as the Eagles' band has decided not to show up yet and the PA announcer has to ask the Denver City band director, through the speakers, if his band can play the anthem. Good thing this isn't District 2-5A, as their bands don't travel to nondistrict games.

3:50 p.m. -- A pretty humid day here in Pecos, with storm clouds gathered all around .... Driving here from Odessa we passed through about 10 minutes of a deluge just west of Monahans and it looks like the clouds are backing up all the way to Pecos. There are flashes of lightning in the distance, but not close enough yet to postpone the game.

This game is being played this afternoon because of weather issues last week that affected the power to the lights around the stadium. The field is in great shape, but hopefully everyone is hydrated because it is warm and humid, with rumbles of thunder echoing overhead.
